Nostalgia in Motion
The shape of this large-scale luminous sculpture evokes an iconic toy. The Slinky was discovered accidentally in the mid-20th century when a simple steel coil fell off a workbench and seemed to propel itself. It soon became a favourite toy for generations of children. In this installation, spirals light up one after another, creating the illusion of a giant Slinky tumbling through space. The resulting light show is a continuous wave of light and motion frozen in time. By reinterpreting a familiar toy on an architectural scale, the installation encourages us to ponder movement, memory and matter.
