The triumph of light

This installation, a celebration of our ability to make our own light and heat, is only fully revealed after sunset. Phosphorescence is a series of suspended sculptures resembling an aerial forest of organic shapes bathed in warm amber light. A French-Canadian sculptor specializing in folded paper and pleated fabric, Pauline Loctin transforms ordinary materials into volumes that breathe and pulsate like bioluminescent organisms from the depths of the ocean. These forms evoke cells and vessels, microscopic biological structures that embody living light. Creating a warm protective cocoon through shape, texture and light, the work symbolizes our ability to find joy even in dark moments.
